RAMRAM or Random Access Memory is the amount of memory in your computer. It is the amount of data or programs that you are able to save temporarily. This is because the RAM only save information that is viewed when the system is on. It is important to check your manufacturer before you purchase a computer because a motherboard can only hold a certain amount of RAM and the more RAM you have, the more data you are able to see without making your computer slow down and freeze. There are two types of Random Access Memory. Static RAM, which is the more faster RAM because its clock cycle is much shorter and does not have to be refreshed constantly The other is Dynamic RAM which is more commonly used because it is much cheaper. But, the negative part is that it has to be refreshed every few seconds. Your RAM is something that looks like a stick or a ruler. This can be 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB. ![]() | ![]() Companies that Manufacture RAM's ~
Price Range for RAM ~When you are buying a RAM, you should focus on how much MB or GB the RAM has. In other words, if you want to be able to open more tabs and documents on your computer you should look for higher MB and GB! The total price of a RAM also depends on the model, but the price range is from about $20 to over $100. |
Hard DriveThe Hard Drive computers main storage device. It stores all the information on the computer permanently. The hard drive is also known as HDD (Hard Disk Drive). There are two main types of Hard Drives: Internal and External. Internal Hard Drive is the main storage area of the computer. This is also all the programs that are installed by the user. Modern Computers today contain several gigabytes of storage and provides the right amount of room for the average. External Hard Drive are just for back-up programs that we hardly use regularly. This type of Drive can be easily moved from one computer to another. The Hard Drive is also very sensitive, and it can be easily damaged and it is costly to replace one. ![]() Price Range for Hard Drives ~The average price ranges from around $100 for one terabyte. | ![]() Companies that Manufacture Hard Drives ~
When you are purchasing a new hard drive, you have to consider the speed, capacity and the hard drive itself. The Hard Drive contains a lot of information and if it gets damaged all your data will be lost and hard to recover, so you must make sure to buy one that is reliable. You should buy one with at least 100GB of data so you can store more! The bigger the better! You should also buy one with more rotational speed (rpm) and a data transfer rate of at least 15MB. This will give you a fast computer and rapid-fire data! |
DVD DriveDVD Drives enable users to store/retrieve data from a small disc rather than classic options, for example a floppy disk. This DVD drive is as big as a thick novel you read. This makes it easier for people to save data. Also, you can watch/play/record things onto it using your computer. Companies that Manufacture DVD Drives~
